GRAEME ATKINS
Founder and Principal Consultant
Graeme Atkins has over 30 years of experience in the field of environmental conservation.
With a strong background in working with endangered flora and fauna, Graeme has played pivotal roles in establishing numerous hapū-and-iwi-led projects, showcasing his profound understanding of collaborating with iwi Māori communities. He has co-founded significant initiatives such as the Raukūmara Pae Maunga Restoration Project, Tairawhiti Ngutukākā, Te Whakapae Ururoa, and served as a trustee for Dame Anne Salmond's Waikereru Ecosanctuary and the Coastal Restoration Trust of New Zealand.
Graeme's specialisations encompass conducting surveys for threatened and pest plants, birds, bats, lizards, and animals, the development of effective pest control strategies, and ecological restoration plans.
His contributions have been recognised with awards, including the New Zealand Plant Conservation Network Individual of the Year Award in 2009, the Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year Local Hero Award in 2019, and the Loader Cup for Conservation in 2020. Currently, Graeme is a finalist for the New Zealand Environment Hero of the Year in the 2024 Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year Awards.

MAKERE ATKINS
Executive Manager
Makere Atkins brings a diverse background spanning education, health science, and digital learning. With a commitment to innovation and collaborative leadership, Makere excels in driving organisational success and fostering continuous improvement.
Makere's Bachelor of Education, has equipped her with the skills to effectively lead educational initiatives and drive positive learning outcomes. Her Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedicine) has given her expertise in health science and her knowledge of emergency medical services enhances her ability to address complex organisational challenges.
With a further specialisation in digital and collaborative learning, through her Post Graduate Certificate in Applied Practice (Digital & Collaborative Learning), she is committed to leveraging technology to enhance educational experiences and facilitate effective communication and collaboration within teams.

ASHLEE ATKINS
Operations
Ashlee Atkins is a seasoned operations manager with a rich background in conservation, pest control, and environmental management. Drawing upon his experiences at Te Puia Rotorua and Ngā Whenua Rāhui, he possesses a deep understanding of preserving Aotearoa's unique flora and fauna while effectively managing operational activities.
Key skills include project management, conservation, pest control, flora and fauna management, sustainable tourism, team leadership and project coordination.
Beyond his professional endeavours, Ashlee is deeply passionate about spending time in nature. He is committed to environmental stewardship and actively engages in community initiatives aimed at preserving the rich biodiversity of Aotearoa.

KIMIORA ATKINS
Education
Kimiora Atkins is our dedicated Education Manager with a Bachelor of Teaching specializing in Mātaiao, the indigenous understanding of the natural world. With a commitment to environmental education, Kimiora combines her pedagogical expertise with a passion for ecological stewardship. Her journey as an Environmental Educator is marked by a profound dedication to instilling a deep appreciation for te taiao, the environment in her students.
In her role, Kimiora employs innovative teaching methodologies to engage learners and foster a sense of environmental responsibility. Through experiential learning and hands-on activities, she is passionate about creating a generation of environmentally-conscious tamariki and rangatahi, equipped with the knowledge and skills to address the pressing environmental challenges of our time.

ORIWA ATKINS
Communications and Media
With a dynamic background spanning journalism, broadcasting, and tourism, and a NZ Diploma in Radio Broadcasting, Oriwa Atkins brings a wealth of expertise to the realm of communications and media management.
Equipped with specialised knowledge in radio production and broadcasting, Oriwa has gained hands-on experience in crafting compelling narratives for diverse audiences. Her work as a journalist cover a wide array of topics, from local news stories to in-depth features on cultural preservation and environmental sustainability.
Key skills include multimedia storytelling, community engagement, strategic communications, public relations, environmental advocacy, cultural knowledge and biodiversity preservation.

TE RINA EDWARDS
Administration, Logistics & Safety
Te Rina Edwards, who also works for the Raukūmara Pae Maunga project, brings a wealth of expertise to her role as Administration, Logistics and Safety Manager.
With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to ensuring operational efficiency and safety, Te Rina plays a pivotal role in facilitating the smooth functioning of projects aimed at restoring the diverse ecosystems of Aotearoa.
Te Rina oversees a wide range of essential functions crucial to the success of biodiversity restoration projects. Her meticulous approach to administrative tasks ensures coordination of resources, schedules, and communications, enabling project teams to stay focused and productive.
